Air Force Airman 1st Class Christian J. Ward graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The son of Steve and Barbara Ward of Olivehurst, he is a 2005 graduate of New Life Christian School in Olivehurst.

Air Force Airman Michael M. Thomas graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
A 2010 graduate of Yuba City High School, he is the son of Joy Thomas of Yuba City.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Philip E. Forrest graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The son of Delores Forrest of Yorktown, Va., he is a 2003 graduate of Wheatland Union High School and earned a bachelor's degree in 2008 from Eastern New Mexico University, Portales, NM.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Renee M. Barnett graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The daughter of Desiree White of Wheatland and Greg White of Lincoln, she is a 2007 graduate of Del Oro High School in Loomis.

Army combat engineer Pfc. Michael Bardford was recognized for his valiant actions during a recent route-clearance mission while stationed at Forward Operation Base Naghul High, Afghanistan.
He is a 2011 graduate of River Valley High School and has been in the Army for 18 months.
Bardford is currently deployed with C Company, 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division.
As gunner for a route clearance mission on Dec. 9, Bardford alerted his platoon of suspicious activity and alerted them of the enemy's location.
For his actions, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal.
His family includes his wife, Danielle Bardford of Yuba City and his parents, Kenny Bardford of Olivehurst and Tina Eubanks of Yuba City.
