Letter: No one needs that much ammunition

Once again, we face dead kids and ask why.

While these types of crimes occur throughout the world using various means, America stands out because we are supposed to be the most civilized nation in the world. Well, we are not.

Can we blame video games or TV violence? Maybe guns or giving excessive news coverage to gunman seeking notoriety by one upping the last killer are to blame. I can say as a retired military person who is an expert pistol and expert rifle shot, as well as a hunter and an avid shooter, that no one needs more than two clips of 10 rounds. Want total gun control? Mexico has a total ban on all weapons; more than 50,000 Mexicans are shot and killed each year by outlaws who don't obey the law. Hold gun owners responsible for the security of guns they own. This means if anyone uses a gun you own in a crime, you should be equally responsible for the crime. Lock them up or go to prison.
