Two arrested in Linda assault
Two people are behind bars in Yuba County, accused of beating a Linda man with a purse and possibly a tree branch.
David Leroy Osbourn and Dusty Nicole Younger were arrested Thursday in Marysville, Sheriff Steve Durfor said in a press release.
Osbourn, 23, was booked into the Yuba County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the assault on Linda's Stephen Gilbert on Wednesday. Osbourn, a parolee, is being held without bail, according to jail records.
Gilbert, 39, remains in critical condition at Rideout Regional Medical Center, a hospital official said Friday.
Younger, 25, of Linda is accused of striking Gilbert with her purse. She was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Her bail was set at $30,000.
Investigators believe Osbourn struck Gilbert multiple times with a blunt instrument, possibly a tree branch, Lt. Damon Gil said.
Gilbert was involved in a dispute Wednesday night with an unidentified woman when Osbourn and Younger allegedly tried to intervene, the sheriff's department said.
No other injuries were reported.
Osbourn's most recent criminal conviction in Yuba County came in 2011 when he pleaded no contest to an attempted burglary charge and was sentenced to a year in the county jail, according to court records.
