What's Happening in Stonyford: No shortage of fowl around home

There is no new news on the chickens.

They are surviving the cold weather. Peacocks are in sight now and then. We're not spending too much time outside right now. We're just waiting for warmer weather so it will be more fun to be outside.

I'm reminded of a time last summer when Larry's brother Ted was here. He was fussing about the rooster crowing at 4 in the morning. I don't know what the problem was with that. The rooster was just exercising his vocal cords.

Then he was fussing about the chickens messing up his deck in front of his trailer. It was their yard as well as his. I did sympathize though, when he left his screen door open, and one of the chickens snuck in his rig and left a present for him in front of the fridge.

So, one day we were sitting outside enjoying the country quiet when the peacock started to speak. A peacock makes a sound that is like a baby crying. So the peacock sounded off; Larry answered back with a similar sound. And then they went back and forth for a few times.

Ted sat there tolerating all this for a bit. Then he said, "Great, now I'm going to have to get rid of both of you to get some peace and quiet."

So, Tuesday dinner this week at the Grange is spaghetti. Chuck and Shirley are cooking. Please come out and support the Grange. Give us a call if you want delivery, for no extra charge, at 218-7234.

Zumba is going strong. Check it out Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5 p.m. Laurie P. is the coordinator. This is only $1 a visit. Give it a try. There are several levels of difficulty, and it's easy to adjust for newcomers.

Sew What!? ladies are meeting on Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. If you do any kind of needlework, give this a try. We have bag lunch about noon. This is a nice easy group — light conversation and help for a project, if you need it.

The Cake Walk is coming up in February, Valentine's Day theme. This is always lots of fun.
