Forbestown man jailed on involuntary manslaughter warrant

A Forbestown man surrendered Tuesday to Yuba County sheriff's deputies in connection with the death last month of a Stockton resident.

Haley Wike, 26, was booked into the Yuba County Jail on a $100,000 warrant charging him with involuntary manslaughter.

Deputies said Wike got into a fight Sept. 15 at the Willow Glen Cafe in Oregon House with 37-year-old Louis Pacini IV, Sheriff Steve Durfor said in a statement.

During the altercation, investigators said, Wike allegedly struck Pacini in the face while holding a pool cue, knocking Pacini down. During the fall, Pacini hit his head.

He was taken to Rideout Regional Medical Center. Pacini remained hospitalized until he died 10 days later.

Autopsy results revealed Pacini died as a result of blunt force trauma to his head.

Lt. Damon Gil said Wednesday it was still unclear what sparked the violence.

Investigators believe Pacini had been drinking, but Gil said there was no evidence that Wike had consumed alcohol that night.

Wike was still in custody Wednesday evening.

Gil said the case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 749-7777.
