The Comfort Suites hotel in Linda has been presented with the 2012 Gold Hospitality Award from Choice Hotels International Inc., franchisor of the Comfort Suites brand.

As a top performing property among the company's more then 5,000 U.S. franchised hotels, Comfort Suites at 1034 North Beale Road is among the top properties within the Comfort Suites brand as one of 26 hotels out of 361 Choice Hotels brand properties in California and one of 60 hotels within the 616-strong Comfort Suites brand to receive the Gold status.

The local hotel has demonstrated an exceptional dedication to guest satisfaction and superior service, said a Choice Hotels press release.

Sutter-Yuba-Colusa Walnut Day on Feb. 29

Sutter-Yuba-Colusa Walnut Day is scheduled Feb. 29 in Yuba City.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., with the program running from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., at Veterans Memorial Hall, 1425 Veterans Memorial Circle.

Topics will include walnut diseases and pests, pesticides, biological controls, quality, laws and regulations, and the state of the industry.
