Parkinson support group Monday
Information on exercise and stretches, plus research on cognitive deficits are part of the next Parkinson’s Support Group meeting at 1 p.m. Monday in Yuba City.
Guest speaker Torben Ulrich will talk about integrated physical therapy; and Maria Ventura, a UC Davis graduate student, will present her studies on cognitive deficits and potential rehabilitation programs associated with Parkinson’s disease.
The group meets at the Sutter Medical Foundation, 969 Plumas St., Suite 208, Yuba City. Meetings are open to all persons with Parkinson’s and their family, caregivers and friends.

Diabetes screening planned Monday
Free diabetes health screenings will take place from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at Riverside Pharmacy, 866 Plumas St., Yuba City.
Blood glucose and HbA1c testing will be provided to test for the risk of diabetes.
Each appointment takes about 15 minutes.

Breakfast features french toast
French toast is featured at this month’s breakfast hosted by the Hallwood Women’s Club.
Breakfast is 8-11 a.m. Sunday at the clubhouse, 2629 Highway 20, Hallwood. Prices are $3.50 and $7.
The event also include baked goods available for purchase.

Diabetes support group celebrates
The Yuba-Sutter Children’s Type 1 Diabetes Support Group and Resource Center is celebrating its eighth-year anniversary of serving the community with a slide show and dessert during its monthly meeting.
The celebration and meeting are from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Fremont-Rideout Conference Center, 989 Plumas St., Yuba City.

Mushroom farm tour for teachers
The California Retired Teachers Association is planning a group trip Wednesday to the Premier Mushroom Company in Colusa for a tour of the facility.
The group will meet and leave at 9:20 a.m. at the Kmart parking lot on Gray Avenue in Yuba City.
The tour starts at 10 a.m. at the farm located at 2880 Niagara Ave.
The one-hour tour will take place in a climate controlled location; warm clothing is advised.

GOP group to hear from ex-candidates
Guest speakers Elizabeth Emken and Kim Dolbow Vann will talk about their experiences as Republican candidates during a luncheon meeting of the Sutter-Yuba Republican Women Federated.
Emken was the party’s nominee for US Senate who ran against Dianne Feinstein, and Dolbow Vann sought the seat for the US House of Representatives, 3rd District, against John Garamendi.
The luncheon is at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at Ruthy’s in Hillcrest Plaza, 229 Clark Ave., Yuba City.
The cost is $16 for the vegetable or meat lasagna buffet.
