Letter: Prop. 8 recognizes heterosexual rights

Who is being discriminated against? With one opinion from four judges, the heterosexual community is being discriminated against. Marriage licenses now carry the term Party A and Party B. No longer is it legal to have bride and groom on the license. If you cross out Party A and Party B and write in bride and groom the license will be denied. This is an unacceptable alteration that does not comply with California State registration laws.

Just as the words male and female, left and right, up and down, homosexual and heterosexual have a certain meaning, so does bride and groom as well as marriage.

Proposition 8 isn’t about discriminating against homosexuals, it’s about recognizing heterosexual rights. Two percent of the population says they want the same rights as married people. They already have them.

What the homosexual community really wants is everyone to think they are the same as heterosexuals. Well, they are not the same; if they were, this would be a moot subject. If the liberals really want to be fair then come up with a word that means a legal union between homosexuals. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman.

Proposition 8 is about recognizing this. No bride and groom. Can’t say husband and wife or mother and father, because it is discriminatory? What is next? “Do you Party A take Party B to be your lawful wedded” ... what?
