Three Cheers Letter: Young people step up

I just wanted to say something nice about some of the young people in our community.

On Nov. 3, young people from Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Crews, and Girl Scouts participated in the national Scouting for Food event.

These young people, ages 6-15, went door-to-door in the community and asked for donations of non-perishable food items. These items were collected and delivered to local food banks to be distributed to the needy.

More than 1,500 items were delivered to Christian Assistance Network alone. The 32 Scouts I worked with on Nov. 3 were cheerful, helpful, polite and enthusiastic. There was no whining, complaining or swearing. It was a delightful way to spend time with these young people.

I'm very thankful to know such wonderful people are the futre ofour community. Thank you and three cheers to the Scouts.
