Letter: Abortion opponents need to be as organized as anti-gun violence backers
There has been a lot of debate in the news lately about the danger of guns.
Unfortunately, when they fall into the wrong hands, innocent people can be killed. At the same time, far more innocent people are killed in a way that creates no major outcry.
However cruel it may be, the killing is legal, and mothers and fathers, of all people, employ the ones who do the killing. After many years, most Americans pretty much accept abortion, even people of faith who say they oppose it.
They may complain, but they do not organize strongly against it. Something has infected our culture, causing us to accept what a prior generation would have considered uncivilized.
We do a better job with pets; we euthanize them. Little humans receive no painkiller.
Do we realize what's happening in our country?
We now find it easier to ignore the worst form of child abuse or to approve it by continuing to vote for candidates who support the killing of children whose parents do not want them.
It's a sad truth that a mother's right to have her unborn child killed overrules her baby's right to live and that taxpayers who object are forced to pay the abortionist. Why should we wonder that violence has increased? It's now legal to treat children as throwaways.
