Letter: Outrage lacking over killing of geese
I wonder what has become of us when we read an article like the one on Jan. 18 about the slaughter of a colony of more than 100 snow geese at one time and we aren't appalled by it.
What pained me almost as much as hearing that someone could do this was reading some of the online comments from people who seemed to be OK with it.
"It was only a little over the legal limit," some said, completely missing the point, as though if these 14 "hunters" had opened fire and killed only the legal limit in a similar fish-in-a-barrel scenario, there would have been nothing wrong with it.
These shooters weren't just people with no sense of sportsmanship; these were people with no sense of right and wrong, with no inner moral compass whatsoever. Sure, we could probably enact tough anti-hunting, anti-gun laws, but people need to take a stand and say this was wrong. This can't be allowed to happen again if things are to really change.
