Letter: Ann Coulter's comments on gun violence are troubling

The Ann Coulter Jan. 27 column "Ending gun violence requires commitment" and cartoon was more than troubling to me.

I have worked with the community to reduce stigma, misunderstanding and discrimination regarding people with mental illness. The columnist repeats her views and associates violence and guns with mental illness. Her statements have no fact or specific value, just her opinion.

Coulter echoed the attitude many have desperately tried to stamp out. The fear of such labels and ramifications connected to such comments continue to bind people with mental illness and keep people in the shadows, away from services and society.
