Let’s move ahead, without the recall

I have been participating in the voting process since 1974. Since that time, I have noticed that, regardless of who wins the race, from local all the way to the White House, the concession speeches have almost always been the same: “We have elected our leaders, so let’s unite behind them and move (our community, state, nation) forward.”

Here in Yuba County, we the people have elected our supervisors. Mr. (Rex) Archer needs to realize that everybody can’t win all the time, that balance of power is a good thing and that there will be other races. His time will come - if the people will it.

I have worked and lived in the Linda/Olivehurst area for 30 years. The area has certainly come a long way … and that for the good. I am sure that few, if any, of us could have imagined the transformation that has taken place in the past five or so years.

Our Board of Supervisors, including Dan Logue, has done a good job of representing the people. They voted to put the casino issue to the voice of the people, and the people spoke by the vote and said no. They voted to invest in the levees (which Mr. Archer opposed) and made our homes safer, increasing their value and lowering flood insurance rates.

Reject the recall petition, support our elected officials and let’s move forward.

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
Yes. We've gone too long with limited options for homeless families.
It's a good idea, but the fire station is a bad location for this.
No. The city has better things they can use the building for.
I'm not sure.
