Gold Sox attendance takes big jump in '06

August 9, 2006 - Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox attendance in 2006 climbed by 31 percent from the previous year, the collegiate wood-bat league team said this week.

Team officials said attendance during the season averaged 1,353 based on the number of tickets sold to the 44 home games at All Seasons RV Stadium. The Gold Sox, which finished with a 41-9 record and won the Horizon Air Summer Series' McCullough Division, finished their season Sunday.

The stadium's capacity is about 2,800.

Thirty-six percent of those attending Gold Sox games were 17 years old or younger, the team said. It said 30 percent were ages 18 to 35, 22 percent were 36 to 55 and 12 percent were over 55.

Managing Partner Peter Bavasi said last month that he and his brother, Bob, are shopping the team and the Horizon Summer Series for $1.7 million.
