Pheasant hunts begin this weekend
It is time to sign up for the Junior/Women's Pheasant Hunts. Do you have a wife or girl friend of any age, or youth under 16 who has completed their hunter education course and would like to hunt pheasants?
This is your chance to let them experience bird hunting under optimal conditions at no cost.
• JUNIOR/WOMEN'S PHEASANT HUNTS — 1) Nelson Slough Wildlife Area on Oct. 24-25. Call me at 519-0468 or you can show up at 7 a.m. or 1 p.m. on Sat./Sun. or 2) California Deer Association Sutter area pheasant hunt on Nov. 21-22. Call Perry Pasquale at 870-1530 for info.
• HUNTER EDUCATION CLASS - New hunters can prepare for this years junior/women's pheasant hunts and hunting season by signing up for a hunter education class. You should contact the following entities: Yuba City-Chuck Wyllie at 671-9250. Classes are on Oct. 26-29, 6-9 p.m. at the Sutter County Ag. Office at 142 Garden Hwy. KNIGHTS LANDING-Mike Russow at 662-4873. Classes are on Nov. 6-7. WOODLAND-Yolo Sportsmen-662-2349-Classes on Oct. 21-24. GRASS VALLEY- Fred Pfadt at 273-4440. Classes on Nov. 13-14.
• SHOOTING RANGES — A rangemaster is present at the Twin Cities Rod & Gun Club shooting range on Second Street in Yuba City on Saturday and Sundays from 9a.m.-1 p.m. and Wednesdays 4-7 p.m. through mid-October. Call 673-6873 with questions.
The shooting ranges at the Spenceville Wildlife Area (Smartsville Road) and the Oroville WA (Larkin Road) are open 7 days a week. Clay pigeons are OK at both areas.
Shooter's Paradise, 1407 Colusa Ave in Yuba City — This handgun range is open Monday-Friday from noon-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
