PREP ROUNDUP: Lindhurst routs Marysville in tourney finale
Wheatland Pirates take third place
The Lindhurst and Marysville High boys basketball teams still have two more matchups this season in Golden Empire League play, but the two squads got a good look at each other on Saturday.
Round one in this year's installment of the rivalry went to the Blazers as they routed the Indians 70-51 in the consolation championship of the 52nd annual Wheatland Tournament.
All-tournament selection Cedrick Thomas scored 15 points for the Blazers (2-1) to go with seven assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Fellow senior Devin Ward led Lindhurst in scoring with 19 points. Alex Yang was solid from behind the 3-point arc with 15 points and Malik Payton added 10 points.
Marysville (1-3) received 17 points from Brandon Graves and 10 points from Anthony Lattuca.
Wheatland 63, Anderson 57
All-tournament selection Taylor Balogi scored 16 points and Jackson Hopking finished with 16 points and seven rebounds as the Pirates beat the Cubs to take third place at their own tournament.
Jimmy Pipkins added 11 points for Wheatland, which upped its record to 3-1 on the year with the victory.
BELLA VISTA BRONCO ROUNDUP
Granite Bay 86, Yuba City 48
In Fair Oaks — The Honkers had a rough night in the final day of the Bella Vista tournament.
Nathan Gillming scored 13 points and Travis Blas scored 10 to lead Yuba City (1-2), which opens its home slate on Tuesday against Lincoln.
DURHAM TOURNAMENT
Gridley 58, Las Plumas 51
In Durham — All-tournament selection Tyler Abrego scored a team-high 28 points and Mat Scott dropped in 10 more to lead the Bulldogs past the Thunderbirds in the consolation game of the Durham Tournament.
Emery Haddy, who's still recovering from a foot injury suffered during the football season, added five points for Gridley, which improved to 3-1 on the year with the victory.
FAITH CHRISTIAN TOURNAMENT
Stockton Christian 68, New Life 60
In Yuba City — Kobe Bancroft and Tyler Treat scored 16 points each as the Crusaders (0-3) fell to the Eagles on the final day of the Faith Christian Tournament at C.A. Summy Gymnasium.

LADY BULLDOG HOLIDAY CLASSIC
River Valley 77, Gridley 36
In Gridley — Aleqse Hawkins scored a team-high 12 points and the Falcons amassed 24 steals and 10 blocks to beat the host Bulldogs in the third-place game at Farmer's Hall.
Jag Gosal added 11 points, Harkiren Everest scored 10 and Sharin Liddar chipped in with nine points for the Falcons (3-1), who saw 12 of their 13 players find the scoring column.
Jackie Koch scored 12 points in the Falcons' 53-45 loss to Oroville late Friday night.
Yuba City 55, Las Plumas 50
Money Kaur dropped in 17 points and the Honkers picked up their first win of the season with a victory over the Thunderbirds in the seventh-place game.
Destiny Fleenor was an all-tournament selection for Yuba City (1-4).
LOIS LANGFORD INVITATIONAL
Marysville 42, Whittell 23
In Live Oak — Bayshta Aguila scored 15 points, Haley Adams recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds as the Indians (3-1) blew past Whittell of Nevada to claim the consolation championship at the 16th annual Lois Langford Invitational.
Live Oak 49, Winters 37
Anijah Clark scored 27 points and was named to the all-tournament team in a victory for the host Lions. Lucero Topete added 11 points of her own.
COLUSA REDHAWK CLASSIC
Sutter 38, Colusa 31
In Colusa — The Huskies earned a third-place finish in the Colusa RedHawk Classic behind a double-double from senior Erika Larsen.
Larsen, an all-tournament selection, scored 14 points and pulled down 21 boards to go with seven blocks. Destiny Stevenson scored eight points and Jaelyn Hoffman added nine points.
Shelby Hill tallied 16 rebounds for Sutter (2-2).
Teal Stacey had 11 points and seven rebounds and Emily Mobley had four points and 10 rebounds to help the cause for the RedHawks (2-2). Paige Townzen added five points and four rebounds and Yasmin Moreno scored six points.
Wheatland 49, Lindhurst 38
Kassidy Heuvelhorst recorded 19 points and eight rebounds and Halen Mariano tallied seven points, three assists and three steals to propel the Pirates past the Blazers in the consolation game.
Marisa Mullen added six points and 14 rebounds, Thalia Kilburn scored eight points and Randi May dropped in six in the win for Wheatland (2-2).
Jasmine Brito scored 10 points and Sarah May put up nine points and 10 rebounds for the Blazers (1-3). May was named to the all-tournament team.

East Nicolaus 35, Faith Christian 29
In Yuba City — Abby Maddalena scored nine points and Shon Ritchie had five points and pulled down 13 rebounds as the host Lions (1-2) fell to the Spartans.

LINDHURST TOURNAMENT
Yuba City 55, Lindhurst 15
In Olivehurst — All-tournament selection Parker Lowe recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds and Angel Hernandez added 10 points to lead the Honkers (2-1) past the Blazers in the third-place game of the Lindhurst Tournament.
Lowe tallied 19 points and 14 rebounds, Hernandez scored 17 points and all-tourney pick John Horn had seven points and seven assists in the Honkers' 62-58 loss to Lincoln on Friday.
Wheatland 54, Marysville 47
Justin Hawkins scored a game-high 32 points to lead the Pirates (3-1) past the Indians in the consolation championship.
Erik Sheize had 14 points and eight rebounds and Casey Carlson added eight points and 13 boards to pace the Indians (1-3).
JV GIRLS BASKETBALL
PARADISE TOURNAMENT
Marysville 53, Paradise 29
In Paradise — Hannah Stueve dropped in eight points and swiped 10 steals and Mikayla Anderson added six points and 13 rebounds to propel the Indians (2-2) past the host Bobcats for a second-place finish at the Paradise tourney.
COLUSA REDHAWK CLASSIC
Colusa 39, Wheatland 29
In Colusa — Led by tournament MVP Sally Loeza, the RedHawks took down the Pirates and clinched the tournament championship.
Loeza scored 15 points and Mollie Townzen and Jasmine Savage both scored six for Colusa (3-1).
FROSH BOYS BASKETBALL
ROCKLIN TOURNAMENT
Yuba City 61, McClatchy 43
In Rocklin — The Honkers finished the Rocklin tourney 2-2 after a victory over the Lions.
Ryan Besso scored 21 points and Matt Lara added 10 points for the Honkers.
YC opened tournament play on Saturday with a 65-47 loss to Del Oro. Besso scored 16 points and Cameron Eden dropped in 12.
Vista Del Lago 54, River Valley 49
Jasdeet Singh scored 18 points and Jacob Farmer tacked on 10 as the Falcons were narrowly defeated by Vista Del Lago in the final tournament game in Rocklin.
RV (1-3) opened tournament action with a 70-52 loss to Folsom.
In the loss, Gurjeet Singh scored 16 points and Sukhman Janda scored eight.
