PREP ROUNDUP: Yuba City girls cruise past Lindhurst

Money Kaur scored 21 points and Alisha Aery dropped in 16 for the Yuba City High girls basketball team in a 56-33 victory over Lindhurst in Olivehurst on Wednesday night.

Mirian Corona led the Blazers (1-4) with 10 points, while Sarah May and Corina Soto-Gonzalez scored six points a piece.

Yuba City (2-3) opens play at the Oroville Tournament today at 8:30 p.m.

The Honkers also won the junior varsity contest 38-7.

Tristan Zamora scored 10 points and McKenzie Lockhardt added eight more to lead the Honkers (2-0).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Faith Christian 67, Williams 36

In Maxwell — Justin Glen scored a team-high 20 points and Deep Bhatti added 18 points and nine rebounds to help lift the Lions past the Yellowjackets at the Maxwell Tournament.

Drew LeBlanc chipped in with 11 points and Drew Tollenaar swiped six steals for Faith Christian (3-1), which will play the host Panthers today at 8:30 p.m.

WRESTLING

Yuba City 51, Winters 22

In Yuba City — The Honkers picked up eight victories via pin fall as they rolled the Warriors in a nonleague dual meet at Honker Gym.

Freshman Thomas Thornton pinned his opponent in 9 seconds to pick up a victory in the 138-pound match.

Eight more Honkers won by pin, including Marcus Sillas (120), Isaac Bishop (126), Greg Ferguson (152), Chandler Wilkerson (170), Cody McMahon (182), Westley McMahon (195) and Kenny Couch (220).

Thomas Bishop won his match in the 145-pound division by decision for Yuba City, which improved to 2-1 in dual meets this season.

JV BOYS BASKETBALL

Wheatland 46, East Nicolaus 34

In Wheatland — Justin Hawkins put up 14 points to lead the Pirates (4-1) past the Spartans on Tuesday night.

Rio Americano 44, River Valley 40

In Sacramento — Karlan Parks, Sam Van Dusen and Sarb Dail each scored eight points as the Falcons fell to 3-4 on the season with a loss to the Raiders on Tuesday.

Marysville 40, Live Oak 33

In Live Oak — Casey Carlson and Erik Scheize each had double-doubles and the Indians improved to 2-3 on the year with a win over the Lions on Tuesday.

Carlson finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Scheize had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Live Oak was led by Jezin Cheema's 10 points.

JV GIRLS BASKETBALL

Marysville 59, Live Oak 13

In Marysville — Hannah Stueve scored 16 points and dished out five assists to help propel the Indians past the Lions on Tuesday.

Mikayla Anderson added 12 points and eight rebounds in the win for Marysville (3-2).

FROSH BOYS BASKETBALL

Rio Americano 55, River Valley 39

In Sacramento — Sukhman Janda, Jasdeep Bains and Jagjot Takhar each scored eight points on Tuesday as RV dropped to 2-5 overall.
