Police mum on Yuba City crash victim

A Yuba City man remained in critical condition Wednesday at Rideout Regional Medical after he was run over by a vehicle on Tuesday.

Citing the ongoing investigation, police declined to release any additional information, including the victim's identity.

However, friends and family of Miguel Andrade said he remains hospitalized.

Andrade, believed to be 35 years old, was listed in critical condition, a hospital official said.

Police and witnesses said Andrade was arguing around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday with a woman believed to be his girlfriend in the parking lot of the Live Oak Apartments, on the Downie Street side of the complex.

The woman, who police said is in her mid-20, was behind the wheel of the gray Hyundai Sonata.

Witnesses said Andrade was in front of the vehicle when the car moved forward and struck him.

Andrade was wedged under the front driver's side axle and was crushed, emergency responders said.

Police have not said whether they believe the incident was accidental or intentional.

It remains unclear if any arrests will be made.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Yuba City Police Department at 822-4660.
