Yuba City man beaten, robbed on Christmas Day

A 20-year-old Yuba City man was beaten and robbed Christmas Day, but waited 24 hours before he reported the crime to police.
The man told police investigators he drove his friend's girlfriend to a home on Bird Street on Tuesday afternoon, Lt. Tom Tappe said.
"After he dropped the woman off, he said her boyfriend got into his car and threatened to break the driver's nose, if he didn't give him his credit card," Tappe said.
The victim was punched in the face, and the thief took his cellphone and a pack of cigarettes, police said.
"He says he was then punched in the face five more times and told not to report the incident to police," Tappe said.
The victim reported the incident Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the victim and attacker do know each other, but they declined to release either man's name.
"Generally, it's our policy to withhold that information when we believe there's a chance there could be some potential for retaliation," Tappe explained. "This was not a random attack."
Police described the attacker as a 28-year-old white male, about 6-foot, 150 to 170 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes with unspecified arm and neck tattoos.
