Morning shooting kills YC teen
An 18-year-old man was Yuba City's second homicide victim in less than a week, police reported Sunday.
The teenager apparently was shot in his upper body while inside a car near Bridge Street and then taken to a south Sutter County home, where he later died, police said.
At about 11:15 a.m., police responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Bridge Street and Oji Way but did not find any victims or witnesses.
Forty-five minutes later, officers were dispatched to the Sutter County home, where they found the victim. Paramedics could not revive him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are having a tough time piecing together the sketchy details, in part because the victim's friends aren't saying much, police said.
The victim's name was not released, pending notification of his family. An autopsy will be performed to determine an exact cause of death.
Investigators said they didn't have a motive or any suspects.
It was the second Yuba City homicide in five days.
Tuesday night, police found Jose Isidro Zambrano, 21, of Yuba City, on Currier Way with a gunshot wound to his head. He died later at Rideout Memorial Hospital.
Police have not reported any arrests in connection with that incident.
Anyone with information regarding Sunday's fatal shooting is asked to call the Yuba City Police Department at 822-4660 or the TIP Line at 822-4848.
