Bank robber gets away

Appeal-Democrat

A bank robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money Tuesday, according to Williams police.

The robber walked into the US Bank at 2:15 p.m. and waited until there were only employee and one customer present, police said.

The man then walked up to the teller and gave her a handwritten note announcing an armed robbery.

No weapons were displayed during the theft, police said.

The robber fled on foot on northbound Eighth Street with an undisclosed amount of cash, eluding police and Colusa County sheriff's deputies.

Police said they have the bank's surveillance videotape.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 60s, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin to medium build; dark, slightly graying hair; and a dark, trimmed mustache.

He was wearing a light brown derby-style hat, a tan jacket, tan pants and black sunglasses, police said.

Anyone with information about the bank robbery is asked to call Williams police at 473-2661.
