Shooting hurts 2 in YC

Yuba City police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night that left two people with minor injuries.

Police say the incident occurred in the area of Wilbur Avenue and Moore Avenue at 9:45 p.m.

One of the victims, a 16-year old, was hit in both legs. He was treated and released from Rideout Memorial Hospital's emergency room.

The other victim, identified by police as Primitivo Garcia, 28, of Yuba City, was shot in the back.

Garcia ran to the Tortilleria Flores restaurant on Percy Avenue. From there, he was taken by ambulance to Rideout Memorial Hospital. He was treated and released.

Police are not sure whether the shooting was a drive-by, or of its exact location, because neither victim is cooperating, said Deputy Chief Jeff Webster.

“We have two guys who are shot, and neither one wants to talk about it,” said Webster.

The shooting may be gang related. The 16-year-old victim claimed affiliation with the Nortenos gang, Webster said.

Police have no suspects. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Yuba City Police Department at 822-4660, or the tip line at 822-4848.
