Man arrested in Yuba City death

Yuba City Police arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of murder in the death of an adult male discovered laying Friday evening in the patio area of an apartment complex in the 700 block of Shasta Street.

Jeff Wayne Clay was arrested Saturday afternoon at Sanborn and Lincoln roads, police said.

The identity of the victim, who died at the U.C. Davis Medical Center as a result of injuries in an assault, is pending the coroner's investigation, police said. He was believed to have been assaulted while visiting a resident along Shasta Street. The victim had severe injuries to his upper body, police said.

Clay lists an address in Sebastapol in Sonoma County.
