Letter: Politicians' goal: Just win baby

Regarding your coverage of Rep. Wally Herger’s town hall meeting Thursday: "Medicare and Medicaid - they’re government programs and you can see how well they work", Herger, R-Chico, said to applause and laughter from the mostly grayhaired crowd. Mostly grayhaired crowd? Are you implying this crowd was seniors and grayheaded poor people. Give me a break. I have no idea of the majority persuasion of this gathering. However, one thing was clear: the congressman, being the politician that he is, knew what they wanted to hear.

Once again the election season is upon us and the main thrust of our public servants is to get re-elected so they can go back and play in that adult Disneyland called Washington, D.C. I received the congressman’s newsletter and his answer to health care is the same old baloney. After 20 years of him it’s time for a change. Next November can’t get here soon enough.
