Letter: Prayer helped end hostage situation safely
During the hostage situation at Big 5, my friend's stepdaughter was taken hostage. She was held at gunpoint and dragged through the store.
Only God knows what she was thinking.
We were standing in the parking area of Lumberjacks, and my friend was entering a realm of insanity when some people saw us. The man came over to us and asked if he could pray with us. The words he spoke are still ringing in my mind.
He said, "Lord, please help this young man and the police to not to make any decisions that might cause his death." We had this prayer just a few minutes before 3 p.m. Seconds later, we heard the man had given up at 3 p.m.
We believe this was the hand of God and that he answered our prayer for help. I tell you this because the man who prayed for us is out there somewhere and we don't even know his name. We just wanted to say thank you, Lord, for sending this man to us when our need was great.
Thank you, sir, whoever and wherever you are.
God bless you.
