PREP ROUNDUP: Yuba City volleyball tops Lincoln
It was foundation Monday for some Mid-Valley area prep teams — a perfect time to prepare for the upcoming nonleague and tournament matches.
The Yuba City High volleyball team cruised past Lincoln 25-17, 25-16, 25-23 on the road.
Brittany Walker dished 19 assists and chipped in three aces and a pair of kills for the Honkers.
Ally Reines recorded nine digs, while teammate Maddie Collins had nine kills and three blocks up front.
Katie Covey also contributed with 15 assists and a pair of kills.
Marysville 3, Faith Chr. 1
The Indians got by the Lions in a 20-25, 26-24, 25-13, 25-23 victory at Faith Christian.
Marimar Terriquez helped lead the way for Marysville with 14 assists, four aces and a kill, while Reyna Williamson did her job at the net with 11 kills.
Matty Townsend had seven kills, while Annie Wooten had six kills, three aces and two digs.
On Friday, the Indians fell 25-17, 25-15, 25-8 to Golden Empire League foe Golden Sierra.
Candice Hugi had four kills and three blocks, Morgan Cowan-Fayter recorded a pair of kills and blocks and Brooke Bigley had 12 digs in the loss.
BOYS SOCCER
Maryville 3, Faith Chr. 2
Chase Gordon and Micah Atkins each scored a goal for the Lions at home, but it wasn't enough against the Indians.
There was no information reported by Marysville.
Sam Ithurburn assisted Gordon's goal and Deep Bhatti assisted Atkins' goal for Faith Christian (0-1-1 overall).
Faith Christian coach Robert Ripley also credited Joe Valrey for his play on defense and freshman goalkeeper Chase Tollenaar.
