Letter: Some Christians' priorities misplaced
Comments 0 | Recommend 0I am totally appalled, disillusioned that in the past general election, Christian churches were successful at raising well over $700,000 to have a proposition placed on the ballot. My question: “Could not the thousands of dollars spent on a personal preference issue be utilized to elevate suffering of the homeless and hungry in this great state of California? Caring for our sisters and brothers is the true meaning of Christianity.” Whatever you do unto my brothers, you do unto me.
On the local level, pages of “vote yes on Prop. 8” ads were published in the Appeal-Democrat. These full-page ads are not cheap.
I drive daily past the Salvation Army located on the corner of Plumas and Del Norte streets in Yuba City. I witness people lined up for assistance for blocks at times. Where are the churches and their “big bucks”?
Oh yes, today’s holier-than-thou-conservative Christians’ priorities seem to be investing moneys in personal preference issues that they succeeded in making an extravagant political issue.
Thanks be to God these same Christians will not have any authority on judgment day.
