Letter: So much wrong with this picture

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

OK, now let's take a look at this. Our public schools teach our children that sexual behaviors with persons of the same gender are OK, and doing it outside of marriage with anyone is also OK, as long as it is "safe sex." However, it is wrong for public schools to teach abstinence from sex until marriage and to include the natural law principles that sex is for a committed heterosexual couple and the procreation of children.

Also, our public schools can transport our daughters to an abortion facility without their parents' knowledge. And heaven (oops, sorry didn't mean to offend) forbid that a public school should include the concept of God in this arena. Then our legislature believes it is also OK to indoctrinate our children on the goodness of Communism over our form of government (Senate Bill 1322). But then we learn that last year more than 700,000 California students coming out of high school needed remedial math and English from our community colleges (Appeal-Democrat, June 18). What's wrong with this picture?

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
Yes. We've gone too long with limited options for homeless families.
It's a good idea, but the fire station is a bad location for this.
No. The city has better things they can use the building for.
I'm not sure.
