"As far as the leaders of public employee unions in California are concerned, Marcia Fritz is public enemy No. 1."

This was the leading sentence in a June 21 article in a Sacramento newspaper. From the article, Mrs. Fritz is a certified public accountant who is an expert on pensions. Also, she is, as the article goes on to report, the number one numbers cruncher behind the California Foundation for Fiscal Responsibilities. I've personally met Mrs. Fritz and know her as a very honest and conscientious person.

We the citizens of this state need to ask of our representatives why so many governmental retirees are overcompensated when they retire. Too many of us in the private sector when it comes to comparing retirement benefits cannot come close to what they are paid. Nobody had to pay higher taxes for my pension.
