What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? I was born in Fremont and my parents moved here when I was a child. My great-grandpa, Chanchal Singh Rai, moved here in the 1920s — he was a pioneer in the community. He donated land for the Bogue Road Sikh temple.
What is your favorite part of the area? The whole city in general. It has a very homey atmosphere to it.
What is your dream vacation? I've traveled everywhere I've wanted to go to already — I have been to India, England, Canada, to Europe; Seattle, Oregon, New York, Kauai.
What would you do with a million dollars? Get a house and a car and put the rest of the money in the bank.
What is your dream job? I'm doing it now. (It's a dream job) to help out people on a day to day basis.
Favorite musician: Bruno Mars.

Favorite sports team: San Francisco Giants.
Who has had a strong influence in your life? My family — my brother and my mom and my dad, Surjit Singh Rai. My dad died when I was little; he was one of the main reasons I got into health care.
Favorite places to go to in the area? I like to go to the Cook N' Pot in Yuba City with my brother to eat breakfast, the Yuba City Racquet Club and BJJ Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on Lincoln Road.

What is your pet peeve? When people slurp their straws.
