'Three Cheers' Letter: Rideout E.R. patient care was 'fabulous'

September 5, 2008 - 10:15 PM

I have heard horror stories about the conditions at the Rideout emergency room for years. So when my 4-year-old sustained a concussion and became very ill from it on Aug. 3, I was extremely nervous about taking her to the E.R. We got there shortly before 7 p.m. and I was immediately comforted.

The young woman who took our information was kind and showed a genuine concern for my little girl. The nurses in triage were nothing short of spectacular, making my daughter feel safe and comfortable. The physician’s assistant who treated her had the best bedside manner I’ve experienced in years. Even the tech doing the CT scan was cheery and pleasant.

It is so scary to have to take your child to the emergency room. You feel very helpless and you just hope and pray that the people you are asking to care for your child will treat her right. I do not wish to ever have to take my little girl to the E.R. again, but if I do find myself in that situation again, I will take her knowing that some of the most caring, compassionate, and capable medical professionals around will make sure she is very well taken care of.

A big thanks to everyone at Rideout Emergency – you were fabulous.
