Folsom man injured in Sutter County rollover

A 33-year-old Folsom man suffered moderate injuries this afternoon after a rollover accident in Sutter County.

The California Highway Patrol said Derrek James Perrin was driving is 2004 Chevy Cavalier south on Powerline Road south of Sankey Road, behind a big rig.

The big rig's driver turned on the left blinker at the intersection, the CHP said, and Perrin went left to go around it without realizing that the truck was about to turn left.

The driver of the big rig noticed that movement and stayed put.

The CHP said as Perrin started to pass, he made an "abrupt turning movement" to get out of the way of the big rig, causing his car to leave the roadway and overturn about four times.

Perrin was taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville for treatment of moderate injuries.

He was wearing his seatbelt at the time, the CHP said. Alcohol and/or drugs to not appear to be a factor in the incident.
