YC sisters key victory
Ashley Richins put the Honkers (3-3) up 1-0 in the first half, and her sister Brienanne provided a little cushion with a second-half score in a 2-0 Eastern Athletic League win over Pleasant Valley (Chico) at home on Wednesday.
The defense did the rest with a strong performance from sideline to sideline.

Debbie Martin and Elizabeth Quick played well for the Falcons, but they couldn't find the back of the net and fell to 0-6 on the year.
Pioneer 260, Yuba City 281
Hayley Holloway shot a 1-under-par 36 for Yuba City (6-4, 6-3), but its 281 score fell short as Pioneer shot a 260 to win the Tri-County Conference meet at Peach Tree Golf & Country Club.
Other Honkers scoring were Jessica Oakman (54), Rachel Martin (55), Samantha Bendorf (65) and Pavin Bains (71).
Marysville 3, Encina 0
Jennifer Smith scored six aces in only nine serves as the Indians (7-5) easily beat Encina, 25-16, 25-18, 25-11, to move to 3-2 in the Golden Empire League.
Anquanette Taylor had 11 assists and Kellie Stoner had four kills and three digs.
Yuba City 3, River Valley 0
The Honkers continued their unbeaten run through the Tri-County Conference, defeating the Falcons 25-15, 25-18, 25-7.
Yuba City (18-3, 5-0) got three kills and three aces each from Rebecca Root and Morgan Johnson. Katie Dailey had 26 assists.
Vicci Davis and Mary McReynolds had three kills each for River Valley (2-10, 1-5).

Marysville's Stanbury 5th
Marysville High's Dylan Stanbury broke up a Highlands juggernaut by finishing fifth in the frosh-soph boys division at the first Golden Empire League meet at Beckwourth Riverfront Park.
Stanbury clocked in at 13:57 over the 2.1-mile course. Highlands runners swept the first four places and took sixth place.
Other Marysville runners included David Simeroth (13th, 15:37) and Ian Crane (15th, 16:52).
Marysville's Camille Crane placed third in the frosh-soph girls race with a time of 17:05.
Corning 4, River Valley 0
Christine Carothers played well for River Valley, but the Falcons fell to 0-7 on the year.
Pleasant Valley 2, Yuba City 1
Alondra Paniagua got the lone score for the Honkers (1-5) in an Eastern Athletic League loss at home.
