• What is the closest you've been to a famous person? At a Friday Night Live conference in Los Angeles about four years ago I walked by actress Angela Bassett. She was friends with the motivational speaker.

• Whom do you most admire and why? My mother — she raised 17 kids practically by herself; she had a rough childhood and married life. She's 91 and still making tortillas.
• Tell us about a life-changing experience: My recovery from drugs and alcohol.

• If you were in charge, what would you change about the community? I would like to see more Hispanic representation on the City Council and more inclusion in the community.
• What was the last good book you read? "A Child Called It" by David Pelzer. I started reading it and couldn't put it down.

• Favorite actor/actress: Heath Ledger/Sandra Bullock
• Pet peeve: People who steal decorations from the front of your house.
• What are you passionate about? People being good role models for young people and giving their time to teens.
