Letter: Fixing Hammonton Road should be a key issue
Regarding the Appeal-Democrat Oct. 10 article Yuba County has "No money for Hammonton Road."
Now that we have had our first rainfall this season, why doesn't Yuba County send a motor patrol vehicle along this road to fill axle breaking ruts and deep gravel potholes?
I think most everyone knows that there are residences along this road that "courses" close to the sparkling Yuba River — and that it is visited by numerous fishermen, water enthusiasts and others.
The hazardous condition of the road is a danger to emergency vehicles that are required access to this road.
In innumerable places the only speed is 5 mph or less.
I believe the road could be a 25 mph road for a nominal cost. There are vast amounts of free aggregate alongside the road.
In the article mentioned above — county supervisors say they are not abandoning the issues of this road. That being so, I think it is important that repairs should be made before someone is hurt.
