• City of residence: Yuba City

• Occupation: Office specialist at April Lane Elementary School, and Mary Kay beauty consultant.

• Hobbies, interests: I was a student for a long time, so I like reading anything but textbooks. Watching TV. And playing with my son — he's such a fun age.

• Where do you get your news? Appeal-Democrat Web site.

• What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? I was born and raised in Sutter County.

• What keeps you in the Yuba-Sutter area? Family, my job and I have a mortgage.

• What is the closest you've been to a famous person? Rod Beck of the Giants came to Yuba City and signed an autographed ball for me. He was my favorite player.

• If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? Our daughter Tessa is adopted. We took her on when she was 11. She's thriving — and I would wish that for every child.

• Favorite musical group: Jars of Clay

• Favorite television show: "So You Think You Can Dance"

• Whom do you most admire and why? I have always sort of idolized Jackie Kennedy. She was an example of feminism and strength.

• Tell us about a life-changing experience: Having my son, for sure.

• Favorite quote: From Mother Theresa: "I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love."

• What was your first job? I was 16 and I worked at a deli and I always smelled like onions and peppers. After I quit it took a month to get the onion and pepper smell out of my hands.
