Eugene R. Merrill

Eugene Richard Merrill, 81, of San Diego died Dec. 16, 2006, at his residence.

Born in Yuba City, he grew up in the Yuba-Sutter area, graduating from Yuba City High School before joining the military.

He was a certified public accountant in San Diego for 49 years.

Retiring from the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a lieutenant colonel, he previously served in the Army Air Corps.

Also, he was a member of the Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association; an active staff commodore of the Mission Bay Yacht Club; and performed with the Shaky Legged Players and Golden Oldies theater groups.

Survivors include a daughter, Rochelle Merrill-Herrera of San Diego; a sister, Carolynn Schwab of Las Vegas; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Letha Mae Merrick.
