Three Cheers: Back-to-school shopping event impresses

I was so impressed by the back-to-school shopping event held July 30 at Yuba Sutter Mall.

The Sutter Yuba Association of Realtors does different events each year to have monies to donate to local students for school clothes, etc. J.C. Penney also donated their time and efforts to assist in making this event very successful. The local manager for J.C. Penney, Randy Matlock, was absolutely wonderful in offering every discount the store could for the children, and the sales staff was just absolutely incredible. No matter what the questions were, they were so very helpful and courteous.

There were approximately 112 students who were allowed to shop for school clothing in the Penney's store, and they were given $120 each. Volunteers assisted each student and kept track of the items and costs for them. Most of the volunteers found it in their hearts to donate some extra funds if the purchase exceeded the $120; I certainly did.

The young lady who I helped was so very appreciative, it was heart warming.
