65th Anniversary: Nelson

Rio Oso residents Richard and Clara Nelson, the former Clara DeValentine, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with family.
The high school sweethearts were married June 10, 1947, in Reno, Nev., after his return from service in the U.S. Navy.
They graduated from East Nicolaus High School in 1945.
He served with the Navy at Honolulu, Hawaii.
The lifelong Yuba-Sutter residents have farmed peaches and almonds and, currently, walnuts and rice in Rio Oso.
Their family includes three sons, Rick of Pleasant Grove, Leonard of Yuba City and Greg of Newcastle; and six grandchildren.
