Oregon House
Campus hosts ice cream social
The Yuba Environmental Science Charter Academy in Oregon House is hosting an ice cream social at 6 p.m. Tuesday, giving parents and students the opportunity to tour the school and meet the teachers.
Free ice cream will be served and spirit gear will be on sale.
The event includes a mobile dental clinic sponsored by Sierra Family Medical Clinic offering free dental exams and services.

Montessori school taking students
Rainbow Montessori in Yuba City is accepting enrollment for children ages 2-1/2 to 5 years old for preschool and pre-kindergarten classes for the 2012-2013 school year.
In addition, after-school care is available for children up to 12 years of age.

Farley named to dean's list
Yuba City resident Ellie Farley made the academic dean's list at Azusa Pacific University for the 2012 spring semester.
Farley is a nursing major.
To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Azusa Pacific University is an evangelical, Christian university northeast of Los Angeles.
Colusa
Taylor named to dean's list
Hailey Taylor of Colusa was named to Worcester Polytechnic Institute's dean's list for the 2012 spring semester.
She is majoring in chemical engineering.
Students are named to the list by the amount of work completed in A-level courses and projects.
Worcester Polytechnic Institute is an engineering and technology university located in Worcester, Mass.
Yuba City
Thornton earns bachelor's degree
Jared Thornton of Yuba City graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a bachelor's degree in communication studies.
Summer commencement ceremonies were held July 27 at the evangelical Christian university located in Southern California.
Marysville
Alt earns doctorate degree
Marysville resident Albert Alt graduated from Drexel University's school of education with a doctor of education degree.
Drexel University, founded in 1891 in Philadelphia, awarded more than 5,000 academic degrees this year.
Yuba-Sutter
Denton receives scholarship
Dana Denton, a student from Sutter Union High School, received a 2012 Character Matters Scholarship for her community service involvement and academic achievement.
The scholarship was awarded by Granite, one of the nation's largest diversified heavy civil contractors and construction materials producers, based in Watsonville.
All recipients are the children or grandchildren of Granite employees.
Since 2002, Granite has awarded 248 scholarships to high school and college students. This year the company gave a total of $20,000 in awards to 16 students.
