It's a great day to be a Husky
From a beautiful, newly renovated campus to stellar achievements in the classroom and on the field, Sutter Union High School has definitely started off the 2012-2013 school year in style.
Though it has always been a gorgeous and scenic campus, SUHS now proudly boasts a brand new, state-of-the-art gymnasium and cafeteria as well as a 10-classroom building/library. Not to mention the complete renovation of the quad/walk ways around campus.
"Our school has been transformed," said Katie Roben, a junior at SUHS. "I feel like I'm walking around a college. It's surreal."
The new gymnasium features the Husky Café, a trophy case displaying the many accomplishments of our athletes and brand new locker rooms. The additions to SUHS are especially important for seniors, as it just adds to the excitement of starting our final year of high school.
"I can't wait for our first varsity basketball game," said senior Ajay Banga. "The new gym is absolutely phenomenal."
But the additions don't stop there. In the coming years, SUHS will be the home of a brand new science lab, theater and greenhouse. It just keeps getting better.
Academically speaking, Sutter High has started the new school year with a bang. Enrollment in advanced placement classes is at an all-time high, and students are definitely hungry for more.
"I love to challenge myself, and I know my classmates do as well," said Aiden Lang, a senior honors student and varsity athlete.
Students are about to have even more opportunities as the SUHS class schedule will take on an additional two AP classes for the next school year to accommodate our growing number of AP students. With a surplus of academically driven and motivated kids, SUHS has certainly raised the bar.
SUHS is undoubtedly known for its athletics. With a plethora of talent spread over every sport, the 2012-2013 seasons are looking very bright for the Huskies. What most people don't know, however, is that Sutter has a high standard of academic excellence for its athletes. Almost all of the top students at Sutter are athletes as well, which really says something about the mindset of these kids.
From volleyball to tennis to cross country to the brand new Husky swim team, it is safe to say that "Sutter's Got Talent." This was proven once again, as the Sutter Huskies football team powered its way to a 42-0 victory over Bethel. A pretty great start to the season, huh?
This spectacular beginning of the new school year has boosted the Husky spirit. Brand new facilities, academic achievement and athletic dominance have increased the morale at Sutter. Perhaps the most excited about the many additions to our school and the great things planned for the year is our Principal Ryan Robison.
"I'm very pleased with the start of the 2012-2013 school year," Robison said. "The new facilities are great, but it's what the kids do with them that makes me proud. Every day is a great day to be a Husky."
