Mid-Valley

Art program takes applications

Applications are due by Feb. 28 for the California State Summer School for the Arts, open to high school students interested in artistic disciplines.

The program is held July 13 to Aug. 9 at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.

Open to students in grades nine to 12, the four-week program covers instruction in dance, music, theater, visual arts, creative writing, film/video and animation.

Need-based scholarships are available.

Tree sale set at St. Isidore

More than 1,000 bare-root fruit and nut trees donated by Sierra Gold Nurseries are featured at the annual Fruit Tree Sale to benefit St. Isidore Catholic School.

The trees are $10 each.

The sale is March 2 from 8 a.m. until sold out in the school's front parking lot at 200 Clark Ave., Yuba City.

Last year, trees were sold out in the first two hours of the sale.

Brownsville

Taco dinner aids Yuba Feather

The eighth annual Taco Dinner and Auction benefiting Yuba Feather Elementary School is at 5 p.m. March 2 at the Ponderosa Community Center, 17103 Ponderosa Way, Brownsville.

Costs for the fundraiser are $3 children; $5 age 55 and older; and $7 adult.

The event, hosted by the school's Parent Teacher Student Association, includes a silent and live auction. The school is in Challenge.

Marysville

Auto career class set to open

Automotive Technology classes start March 5 through the Yuba County Career Preparatory Charter School automotive academy class.

Courses are designed to prepare students for Automotive Service Excellence testing and to gain skills for employment as automotive technicians.

Thirteen modules in varying automotive subjects are available and cost between $200 to $275 per course.

Classes are held 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at 1104 E St., Marysville.
