Honkers headbutt Rams

Josh Schattner rushed for 203 yards on 25 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead Yuba City a 27-8 nonleague win at Dixon on Friday night.


The Honkers (3-1) amassed 310 yards of offense.


The Honkers' defense didn't allow Dixon to get a first down in the second half of the game.


“We're playing great defense right now,” Yuba City coach Chris Yonge said. “Offensively, we've got some things to work out. Our regular quarterback Josh Hudson sprained his ankle, Dylan Thomas started at quarterback, played the game and did a very good job. He didn't throw much but her ran our offense great.


Corey Roberts had 12 tackles for the Honkers defense, while teammate Nic Ramos had nine tackles.


Gridley 33, Corning 12


Gridley (5-0) had 301 total yards of offense, including 275 rushing yards in its win.


Simon Lamson lead the charge with 160 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Jose Solis rushed for 66 yards and scored a touchdown on a 54-yard run, and returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown in the win.


Kegan Waite scored for the Bulldogs with a 50-yard punt return and Jacob MacFarlane scored on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Eric Donnard.


Williams 42, Delta 31


Francisco Salazar rushed for 189 yards and four touchdowns as the Yellowjackets (2-3) won for the second straight week. Tony Barajas completed 6 of 10 passes for 98 yards and one touchdown.


The Williams junior varsity (4-1) won, 56-0.


Hamilton 55, Biggs 19


Derek Dissel had a one-yard touchdown run but it wasn't enough to prevent Biggs from getting blown out on the road.


VOLLEYBALL


Bradshaw Chr. 3, Faith Chr. 1


Stephanie Sluder served 13 points and had eight kills and one block to lead Faith Christian (5-5, 1-1), but the Lions lost 17-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-19.


Kayla Trimble had six kills and three blocks.


BOYS SOCCER


Faith Chr. 7, New Life Chr. 1


Carson Risenhoover scored three goals to lead the Lions (7-5, 1-1) to a win over the Crusaders.


Cody Wells scored two goals and Vince Hiscock and Chris Villasenor each scored a goal.


JV FOOTBALL


Bear River 10, Marysville 9


Huston Bolek rushed for 249 years, Ryley Webb scored a touchdown and James Chandless sacked the Bear River quarterback for a safety, but the Indians (2-2) lost a nonleague nail-biter at home.


River Valley 36, West Campus 0


Tyler Floyd scored two rushing touchdowns and returned an interception for a touchdown to lead River Valley (2-2) to a win over West Campus. Cody Miller had 123 yards rushing and scored a touchdown in the win.

MEN'S SOCCER


Yuba 1, Napa Valley 1


Octavio Soto scored a goal in the first 20 minutes to lead the 49ers (1-0-1, 1-10-1) to a tie with Napa Valley.


Rafael Escamilla played well in net, and Angel Lucero played well in midfield.

Sutter 30, Yreka 6


John Garcia completed 7 of 10 passes for 158 yards, threw for one touchdown and ran for another as the Huskies (5-0) won a nonleague game on the road. Garcia connected with Dariusz Ratajaczak on the aerial score. Craig Smith also had a rushing TD.


FROSH FOOTBALL


Sutter 34, Yreka 8


Grant Campbell scored two touchdowns and the Huskies (4-1) got one TD apiece from Austin Morehead, Joe McMaster and Hayden Childers. Morehead also had an interception.
