Man in critical condition after attack in East Linda
A 39-year-old man was in critical condition Thursday a day after he was attacked in east Linda, the Yuba County Sheriff's Department reported.
The victim's name was not released to protect the ongoing criminal investigation, Lt. Damon Gil said.
Detectives are looking into the circumstances surrounding the assault, and few details are known.
A patrolling Yuba College police officer found the victim around 11 p.m. lying beside the roadway in the 1600 block of Hammonton-Smartsville Road, Sheriff Steve Durfor said in a press release.
Investigators believe the man got into an altercation with another person and was struck with a blunt object.
The attacker, described only as an "unknown male," left the scene, the Sheriff's Department said.
Deputies are still looking for the weapon used in the attack.
The assault was one of two violent episodes Wednesday in Linda.
William Thomas Harmon was stabbed multiple times around 2 p.m. in the 1800 block of Hile Avenue.
Harmon, 46, was also listed in critical condition Thursday, hospital officials said.
No arrests have been made in either case.
Investigators do not believe the incidents are connected, Gil said.
Anyone with information regarding either assault is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at 749-7777.
