Letter: Gun owner questions NRA statement
First off, I am not against responsible gun ownership.
I own and have owned legally most of my life. The stupid statement by the NRA really sets up a debate once again between the far right and far left.
Why is our country so lost in these extreme views? It only seems logical to me, some tinkering with existing laws is needed.
To think it would have been some solution to have "a good guy" blow that 20-year-old child's head off in front of those children is ludicrous at best.
We need to have less violence overall in front of our children. They are bombarded with it from the time they wake up to time they sleep, then we hope they have beautiful dreams.
Turn on the TV at almost any hour and you will see a dead body within minutes; play most popular video games and see many bodies being blown to pieces!
So, is it any wonder a poor, mentally ill child, takes all that, twist it into a sick fantasy of some kind and then acts out on it? We need to stop violence before it starts, not blow more heads off in some disgusting macho act of control.
