Live Oak

Spaghetti dinner offers take-out

Curbside pickup will be available during the 54th Annual Encinal Elementary School Spaghetti Dinner on Wednesday at the Live Oak Community Building.

Dinner, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 10200 O St., will be prepared by Recology and served by fifth- and sixth-grade students.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds benefit the school's field trips and Shady Creek for its students.

Tickets can be purchased at the school office, 6484 Larkin Road, Live Oak, or from Encinal students.

Yuba City

Fundraiser benefits Marysville FFA

Tickets are available for a tri-tip dinner fundraiser to benefit the Marysville chapter of the Future Farmers of America.

Set Feb. 23, the event starts at 5 p.m. with an auction item preview and cocktails at The Plaza Room at Hillcrest Plaza, 210 Julie Drive, Yuba City.

Dinner and dessert will be served at 6:30 p.m. with live and silent auctions and raffle drawing to follow.

Prizes and auction items include gift baskets and hunting items.

Tickets are $25 for children 12 and under; $40 for singles and $75 for couples.

Kindergarten sign-ups to open Feb. 27

Registration for kindergarten students at Williams Elementary School for the 2013-14 school year is scheduled Feb. 27.

Children must be 5 years old by Oct. 1 and be present during registration.

Parents or guardians must bring the child's birth certificate, current immunization record and proof of residency.

Children must have received one varicella vaccine, two measles containing vaccines, three Hepatitis B, three polio and four DTP doses.

Kohl's scholarship celebrates volunteers

Nominations are being accepted for the "Kohl's Cares" Scholarship Program to honor volunteers ages 6 to 18 years who have made a positive impact on their community.

The youths can be nominated by adults age 21 and older.

Nominations are due by March 15.

Two nominees from each Kohl's store will win a $50 gift card; 200 regional nominees will win $1,000 scholarships; and 10 national nominees will win $10,000 in scholarships.

Kindergarten sign-ups open in March

Registration begins March 4 for fall registration for kindergarten and junior kindergarten students in the Yuba City Unified School District.

Kindergarten students must turn 5 years old on or before Oct. 1 and junior kindergarten students must turn 5 years old between Oct. 2 and Dec. 2.

Parents must bring the child's birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency within each school's attendance area.

March, Jacuzzi get academic honors

Two Yuba City residents were named to 2012 fall semester honor lists at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.

Aaron March earned placement on the President's List. Students must have a 3.7 to 4.0 grade-point average.

Alec Jacuzzi was named to the Dean's List. Students must earn a 3.5 to 3.69 GPA.
