Airborne Ranger Ryan William Summers

Ryan William Summers is the son of Cory and Leah Summers of Yuba City; brother to Heather Summers of Yuba City; grandson to Charlie and Beth Summers and Antonette Hartman of Yuba City and David and Lynn Thompson of Browns Valley; and great grandson to Eldon "Buck" Summers of Olivehurst.

Summers attended River Valley High School and was active in football and wrestling. He was team captain in both sports and received MVP achievement awards. Summers graduated in June 2008 and joined the Army.

Summers attended basic training and Ranger training at Fort Benning, Ga., where he earned his expert marksmanship medal. Summers serves the Army as an Airborne Ranger. He is stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah, Ga., attached to the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Summers recently married his high school sweetheart, Brooke Laswell of Yuba City.
