The man, whose name was withheld by the department, was found by a jailer hanging in his cell, using his bed sheet, on Wednesday evening.

He reportedly had a pulse when he was taken a short time later by ambulance to Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

On Wednesday, Sutter County Sheriff J. Paul Parker said his department was not aware of any mental health issues the man may have had, but that the man was upset over an earlier court ruling. The man was facing felony charges of resisting an arrest and threatening an officer.
