$500,000 bail in shooting
A 22-year-old Linda man was being held Wednesday in Sutter County Jail after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Bail was set at $500,000 for Justin Mathias Ziegenmeyer, who is scheduled to be arraigned at 3 p.m. today in Sutter County Superior Court.
Ziegenmeyer, of the 100 block of North Beale Road, allegedly shot 33-year-old Duncan Smith on Tuesday in the 1200 block of Kenny Drive in Yuba City.
Duncan, who was hit in the forearm, was treated and released from Rideout Memorial Hospital.
Ziegenmeyer was seen fleeing the area in a white pickup but was spotted by a detective a few blocks away at Gray and McMullen avenues. Officers and Sutter County sheriff's deputies made the arrest, said Yuba City Police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey.
The motive for the shooting is unknown but is not believed to be gang-related. The gun was not recovered, said Pavey.
