Three Cheers: Sutter Fire, Santa bring 'holiday spirit'

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

I just wanted to let others know about our Sutter Fire Department’s yearly holiday gift to the people of Sutter.

I’m not sure about other communities, but every Christmas Eve day you hear the siren from the big red fire engine, and after you realize it’s not an emergency they’re attending to, you can expect Santa Claus, with his beautiful red suit and flowing white beard, standing on the back of the back of the fire engine, stopping for everyone who waits for his wave. He hands out candy to anyone who wants some (and even the dogs, waiting for their treat, too). I can only imagine what this does for the kids he visits. I know for me, (a 53-year-old woman ), it brings a lot of joy and “the holiday spirit” in my heart.

Thanks, Sutter Fire Department - I am looking forward to next year’s visit.

BACK TO SCHOOL?
The new GI Bill benefits vary from state to state depending on tuition and fees, replacing the previous flat stipend, and also includes a formula for private college assistance. Do you agree with this approach?
Yes, it allows veterans more choices of where to attend college.
I like it, but the private school policy is flawed in California.
I think it's too generous.
No, it pits states against each other.
